Doha / The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs, in cooperation with Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry has launched an online platform for re- employment of skilled workers in the Qatari local market as a humanitarian initiative in support of migrant workers who are unemployed or whose services have been terminated as a result of the financial impacts caused by the Covid – 19 pandemic. The applications for the reemployment can be submitted through the online platform (https://www.qatarchamber.com/qc-employment/).

The agreement to launch this platform for supporting the private sector came during a meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee between the Ministry of Labour and Qatar Chamber, within the framework of continuous coordination through the Joint Committee. According to the agreement, on the website of the Qatar Chamber, the companies will be able to list down the workers or laid-off employees by filling a dedicated form for each employee or worker with attaching the required documents such as copies of Qatar ID and passport, CV and self-signed expression of interest to work by the worker.
This initiative comes from the Ministry of Labour in partnership with the Qatar Chamber as a care and humanitarian support for migrant workers who have lost their jobs and who have been laid off due to Covid 19- pandemic. The initiative will be a great support for the expat skilled workers who were due to return to their countries as a result of the loss of their jobs after companies have laid off their services in these difficult circumstances. The Ministry of Labour pays due attention for the care of migrant workers and their welfare during their stay in the country in recognition and appreciation of their efforts in building the country.
The online platform will enable migrant workers to transfer their job easily to companies that they wish to join within a short time after registering on the online platform one website of Qatar Chamber. This initiative will greatly reduce the sufferings of migrant workers due to the impact of the Covid 19 and this project will provide them with a new job opportunity in the companies that they choose, according to the procedures adopted by the Ministry of Labour.
The Qatar Chamber aims to provide an opportunity for companies through this platform to recruit from the pool of available workers within the state of Qatar among those who were laid off due to the repercussions of the Corona Corvid-19 pandemic. This platform will enable companies that seek to recruit new employees to choose whomever they want to hire according to the required professional background.
This platform will ensure the continuity of business and projects in the local market and assist the private sector companies in obtaining the required and skilled manpower by recruiting workers that were laid off from other companies, thus avoiding any shortage in employment that may cause the disruption of the projects of these companies and guarantee re-employment while retaining skilled workers, which will positively reflect on economic and investment activities.

After receiving the application, the platform coordinates and matches companies that require new workers with companies that lay-off workers in a joint coordination between the Chamber and the Ministry Labour. Once an application is submitted through the platform, it is transferred to the Ministry of Labour and then, the application is reviewed together with the company’s status to check whether they comply with the procedures put in place.
