International road transport agreement for transit in the State of Qatar

The international road transport system for transit with the TIR system of the United Nations is the only international system that allows the transport of goods from one country to another through transit countries if necessary, in safe freight compartments approved by customs authorities through this multilateral system, which is recognized and supported by the United Nations. With the accession of the State of Qatar, the number of Gulf Cooperation Council countries implementing the international land transport system for transit increases to five out of six countries in the Council.

In addition to the road transport of goods, the international transit road transport system has proved to be very effective as a tool to facilitate multi-modal transport including ro-ro ships, container freight, and rail transport.
This achievement comes in activating the work of the international road transport system with the TIR transit system in the State of Qatar, as a result of cooperation between the International Road Transport Union on the one hand, and the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the General Authority of Customs, and Qatar Chamber on the other.
