Kathmandu / The Thai Nepali Association, Aids and Relief Department has distributed relief materials to the communities affected by the corona virus in various cities in Thailand. Throughout the month of May, various branches of the Thai Nepali Association have carried out relief work in a timely manner. Branches of the association have distributed relief to Nepali-Gorkhali communities in various cities in Thailand. Such relief was distributed to the financially distressed community due to lack of regular work due to Covid 19.
Relief supplies included daily-food necessities which included rice, oil, noodles, fish cans, flour, salt and spices. Financial assistance was also provided to some people as per their need. Representatives of the Thai Nepali Association were involved in the relief distribution process even when there was a demand for relief materials from places where there were no branches.
A total of 8,645 people from 2,508families received relief from several Thai Nepali Association branches and sub-branches. The subsidiaries of Thai Nepali Association has been producing food for over 400 people. Other organizations have also collaborated with Thai Nepali Association in this act of providing service. Thai Nepali Association has also been providing financial support to the citizens who are facing financial burdens in pursuit of their treatment. Similarly, the association has also provided relief to the 56 students who have come from Nepal to study due to the epidemic of Covid-19 in collaboration with the Nepali embassy and other organization.
Despite the epidemic of Covid-19, the activism of the Union Department of Relief was still active throughout Thailand. By adopting security measures, the head of the Aid and Relief Department, head of the Thai Nepali Association, the members and the Thai Nepali Association were involved in the relief work.
The association had issued a notice on social media to provide information in case of any inconvenience due to the epidemic and had assigned the general secretary of the association Binod Lamichhane and the head of the grief relief department Ram Kumar Dhungana.
Chief of the department Dhungana said that the relief work could be carried out with the help of officials of various branches of the association and various people. He also said that the society needs help in times of emergency.
Binod Lamichhane, general secretary of the association, also said that the people affected by the disaster from different cities of Thailand have kept in touch with the association and every effort has been made by the association from the branches of the association. We would like to thank all those who helped in the relief process on behalf of the association.”The Thai Nepali Association would like to express its gratitude for the support received from various individuals, associations and organizations for the relief”, said Kumar Karki, President of the Thai Nepali Association. He said that the association was still working on the current Covid-19 epidemic.
