Doha / Qatar has prohibited all forms of public gatherings and events in the country, including vehicles, to curb the spread of coronavirus (Covid19), H E Lulwa Al-Khater, Spokesman for the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management, announced today on Qatar Television.
This includes all public places including, but not limited to, Corniche, parks, beaches and social gatherings.
Mobile patrols will be deployed and anyone who violates the decision will be seized and checkpoints will be set up in different parts of the country. A hotline is set up where people can submit complaints of any violations of this decision.
This will also cover vehicles and if there is more than one person in a vehicle, it will be stopped and checked.
The official confirmed that food outlets and pharmacies will operate normally and that delivery services, including restaurants, are on-going.
The spokesperson for the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management confirms that the State of Qatar is doing everything it can to preserve the safety of society and contain the virus without human losses, stressing that individual responsibility and societal sense must prevail among all.
A representative of the Ministry of Trade and Industry said that all food establishments and facilities that cause gatherings and crowds will be closed.
The Ministry has set strict conditions for food delivery companies and their commitment to safety standards, Mr. Saleh bin Majed Al-Khulaifi, representative of the Ministry of Trade and Industry said.
