Youth Entrepreneurs Association Urges Labor Ministry to Address Foreign Employment Issues

Kathmandu – The Nepal Foreign Employment Youth Entrepreneurs Association has formally drawn the attention of the Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Social Security to several critical issues in the foreign employment sector.

On Sunday, the association’s officials met with the ministry’s Secretary, Dr. Krishna Hari Pushkar, and submitted an official letter of concern.

According to the association’s General Secretary, Krishna Dhakal, in the wake of the recent Gen Z movement, there is an urgent need for the government to take immediate measures to resolve problems affecting the foreign employment sector. He stated,

“Employing countries have started tightening visa procedures citing security reasons, which has impacted both Nepali workers and business operators.”

The letter highlighted four key demands:

1. Swift renewal of JITCO licenses for sending trainee workers to Japan.

2. Immediate implementation of demand letter verification for European countries.

3. Diplomatic efforts to resolve visa issues for Nepali workers going to the UAE.

4. Eliminating misconceptions about “free foreign employment” while ensuring transparency in the revenue system.

Secretary Dr. Pushkar assured that the ministry takes these concerns seriously and has already initiated concrete steps. A committee chaired by Joint Secretary Pitambar Ghimire has been formed for the renewal of JITCO licenses, with a target to resolve the issue within about 10 days.

Regarding demand letter verification for European countries, the ministry has been in repeated correspondence with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with expectations of a prompt resolution. Diplomatic efforts are also underway between the Nepal government, the Nepali embassy, and the UAE government to address visa-related issues, with positive outcomes expected soon.
