4-PHASE LIFTING OF RESTRICTIONS TO BEGIN ON JUNE 15

Doha / Key messages from the press conference held today by HE Lolwah AlKhater, Official Spokesperson of the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management about the latest developments regarding #Qatar’s efforts to prevent the spread of #Covid19

HE Lolwah AlKhater:
* Gradual lifting of restrictions while continuing to take all the necessary precautionary measures in four phases:
1. First phase will start on June 15, with the gradual opening of mosques
2. Second phase will start on July 1
3. Third phase from August 1
4. Fourth phase from September 1
* Thanks to the precautionary and preventive measures taken, we have been able to handle the situation effectively
* The entire society – individuals and organisations – should play an active role in ensuring protection
* Lifting of restrictions doesn’t mean waiving social distancing rules and other measures, including use of the Ehteraz app as a condition for entry into public places
* The lifting of restrictions could be reviewed if there is any lapse in strictly following the precautionary measures
* All parks, beaches and Corniche to be opened in the second phase
* Limited and partial opening of restaurants in the second phase
* Beauty salons and health clubs will be opened during the third phase with limited capacity
* From August, residents from low-risk countries will be allowed to return to Qatar with mandatory quarantine in place
* The elderly, people with chronic diseases and children are advised not to leave home during the first and second phases of the gradual lifting of restrictions
* Driving schools will reopen in third phase
